Batam attracts $1.2B in new foreign investments in Q1 2025

Batam has recorded a significant surge in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the first quarter of 2025, attracting over $1.2 billion in new capital commitments. This growth is primarily driven by the expansion of the electronics manufacturing sector and the burgeoning digital economy in Nongsa Digital Park.

The head of BP Batam stated, "This achievement reflects investor confidence in Batam's strategic location and our continuous efforts to improve infrastructure and ease of doing business."

Key highlights include:

  • New semiconductor packaging facility worth $400M.
  • Expansion of two data centers in Nongsa.
  • Growth in shipyard orders for renewable energy vessels.
